Latin American Art Music Festival: Fourth Movement

Yesterday (Sunday), there were several performance events that took place; for instance, one of these was a program of Latin American classical music that was presented by KU music department alumni.

You can watch this, as well as all of the other recent performances, on the KU School of Music YouTube page:

You can also go to this same link in order to watch, live, the final events of the festival. Today (Monday), at 6:45pm (CDT), I’ll be presenting the keynote address, “Discovering Our Shared Cultural Heritage: A Re-imagination of 20th Century Inter-Americanism for the 21st Century.” It’s an amazing journey that you won’t want to miss!

But there’s more! Immediately after the keynote (at approximately 7:15pm), I’ll be conducting a special “Sinfonietta,” made up of seventeen of KU’s most talented music students, in a program of four pieces. This program will last about 45 minutes.

So, the best thing is to connect, and remain connected from the start of the keynote to the end of the concert. However, if you happen to be anywhere near Lawrence, Kansas, you are certainly welcome to attend in person. Everything will be held in Swarthout Recital Hall, located in the music department building. Best of all, it’s free and open to the public!
